WATCH THIS BEFORE "THEY" BAN IT TOO...!!

Voltaire had said,"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to death your right to say it!" Non deniably the human race has evolved since Voltaire's time in the 18th Century. One cannot deny the fact that humans have been the initiators of several revolutions, ranging from the Renaissance to the Green Revolution and the present Age Of Information. As Humans are the accumulators and the disseminators of knowledge, with changing times their needs also change. The 'issues' which were non debatable or concerned only a few, centuries ago might become the 'ideologies' of the individuals in the subsequent generations.
Thus considering the above mentioned factors, one realises that debates and dicussions are vital for the society, just like food, shelter and water. These discussions need encouragement and valid inputs from the Government, which is an elected representative by,of and for the people in a democracy. More over in a country like India where openness to new ideas and cultures is in a backlog, the Government should act as the backbone for these discussions to stand strong.
Alas! the Government in India has resorted to a makeshift ideology of "BANNING" things, not realising that it doesn't end the root problems plaguing the nation. The Government of India has imposed ban on n number of things and is not something that has started in the recent times.
One can even consider the idea of banning if deemed justified, but the bans imposed in the recent times or before have never had a strong justification besides just an escapist mentality and the want to remain in power on the part of the Political Party in power. The banning list of the Government shows its never ending attempt to protect the society from the existing discrepancies(both of the system and the society itself). In the past one week 6 things were banned in India without any discussion on public forum and without considering the views of the majority. Some of the bans imposd by the Indian Government include- banning Fifty Shades Of Grey( apparently its against Indian Culture), The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie, India's Daughter (some politicians feel that it has been made to defame India and over emphasise India's faults...well someone's got to tell them that if there is nothing to point at and fuss over, no one will), AIB Knockout, Beef ban in Maharashtra etc etc....
Democracy in India is slowly drifting away from practicality towards an illusion of its existence. If everyone stops posing the question as to what is happening in our society, Democracy will end up as a theoretical concept for our future generations to study.
This video is an attempt to showcase that 'healthy discussion' is an efficient alternative to banning haphazardly, which has been and is a popular belief amongst the Government officials...!

  1. Very well said surbhi..... Banning everything will not destroy the problems from the root.... If they think by banning certain videos on movies can safeguard our country's image.... Then sorry but this will not help.... Great research done surbhi... Ur efforts deserves a salute

And yes I completely agree that it is high time..so the government should start acting like the strong backbone that it was meant to be for the nation thereby encouraging debates and discussions which ultimately lead to change..!

  5. Great work Surbhi...
    The video looks great...
It covers various aspects in short duration of time...
The Government should think of it's citizens as rational people who can make their own decisions and not hover over them like overprotective parents...
Kudos to you and your team for pointing that out :-)

  11. Great work :) I think the ordinary citizens of India should be given the power to put ban on something because we are better thinkers than our foolish so called great Government! Grow up " Government ".

    1. Thank you Tayyaba!:-D
Although I would like to add that the power to ban something cannot be completely given in the hands of the citizens because it will again create a ruckus..however what we have proposed through this video is that bans if justified( supported wih valid reasons)should be put by the consent of the majority and to reach that stage the government needs to stop using the escapist ideology and rather encourage debates leading to such a decision..

I agree with what u have to say besides the fact where u state that all the people in the country should have "same" views...because this video propagates that different views should be discussed and comprehended before taking any discussion..and banning is not at all a solution!
