BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF DELHI!

Going with the theme “Delhi Darshan”, I will let you peep into the window of experience and thrill. I will be navigating you through the passage of monuments and architecture, that has been careful preserved here for years. The architectural beauty of a place speaks volume about its past. Delhi, being one of the oldest cities of ancient India has this structure present which represents the traditional culture of India as a whole. The specification of this darshan is the personal touch attached to it. The monuments that I have covered are the akshardham, lotus temple and India gate…

Akshardham is one of the most popular and sacred pilgrim and tourist sites of Delhi. It comprises of huge complex of architectural structure that is set in a vast 100- acre site. Now you can imagine how vast the entire span of the structure is (sure a bad news for your aching legs!!). But the mere sight of the structure even from far off fills you with a surge of enthusiasm. This place is said to radiate peace, joy and divinity. Akshardham, or to be more precise “Swaminarayan Akshardham” was created by Pramukh Swami Maharaj as a tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan who promoted Indian culture. As you enter, you can see a substantive amount of area for the parking purpose. Going through the security checks, one has to deposit all the belongings in the safes. No mobile phones or cameras are allowed as clicking pictures is strictly prohibited. This accounts for a justified reason that how can something so laudable and worthwhile be captured in a camera.?? Instead it deserves to be relished there and then.
Each and every column has a connotation of principles attached to it. Be it the ten gates which symbolises openness to all or the “Mayor Dwar ’’that has numerous peacocks inscribed in it which emphasis the beauty of our national bird.

But the ultimate centre of “attraction” (not applying the physics law) is the main “Akshardham Temple”. When you enter, to your astonishment you won’t find any ‘yagyas’ or rituals are performed but the visitors just walking by. It just mesmerises you with the work done on the monuments to make it look what it is .You will find few statues of Hindu god and goddess situated here. If by chance you happen to look straight above, you will be awestruck by the mesmerizing art work of the artisans. The roof is in the form of a chakra with the minute sculpture of the Hindu goddess. Seeing this, you will feel proud to be a part of such enriching culture. For a while you might wonder ....how such a thing could be the creation of hands. The intricacies of the pattern the design, the fine art work, the hard and laudable work of the artisan attracts your attention the most. With people nearby, I could hear them exclaiming “oh god, this is amazing”, and the chanting of ‘WOW’ by them was what I got used to.  What I could analyse was that the monument was more of a cultural and historical representation and was not as per say a purely pilgrim site. Lots of tourists flock here, no doubt New Delhi railway station is near. For a while you get a feeling of being in some remote part of the world ,transported to the ancient-India .Your illusion of it breaks only when  you turn back again and see the highway and the 21st century cars and bus  running

This place has its exclusivity in the portrayal of the traditional culture. The sculptured stone elephants give a special touch to the indianness. The Akshardham metro station is the nearest one making the place quite accessible. The other thing that forms a part of it is few food joints, souvenirs shops and an endless dig into the amazing experience!!!
PS. Don’t miss the water show!!!\
