Alauddin khalji excavated a large tank in Hauz Khas for the use of inhabitants of Siri. The second city of medieval Delhi, which was founded by him was originally known as Hauz- i- Alai after his name. Firuzshah Tughlaq re-excavated the silted tank and raised several buildings on its southern and eastern banks which are known as Hauz Khas or Royal tank.
Hauz Khas has now emerged as one of the most popular hangouts in delhi. Hauz Khas village is known for Cafes, bars , high fashion boutiques , antique shops or for just bumming around.
