You knew it very good !! You don’t never mind even I didn't knew it.
ALS Ice bucket challenge
got the hold of all of us. Everybody was seen dumping cold icy bucket on their
head from David Beckham to Delhi university students. It was introduced as a campaigned fight to
treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also
empowering people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller
lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
(As mentioned on ALS official Website)
The person
who is tagged by someone either dumps a bucket of ice water over their heads
within 24 hours or donates $100 to the ALS foundation. Just like any other
sensational scoop it spread in India like Wild fire.
BUT
LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION WAS IT WORTH IT?
It may have
ratcheted up the YouTube hits, but have they really done much for awareness of
the disease?
We
live in country where people still struggle for drinking water. They travel
miles just to get enough water for their daily requirements. On one hand we are
making our project/ presentation on SAVE WATER and on the new tab challenging
our Friends, Cousins, family for ICE Bucket challenge. Just for the sake of
participation on social media affair, Is this justified?
These viral fevers
somehow block our way of rational thinking.
The above video…which should have been
VIRAL in India will take u on the amazing tour of reality. There was a change
in notion when “WE: INDIANS” started our very own version #RiceBucketChallenge. Initiated by Manju Latha Kalanidhi (HYDERABAD)
who posted the challenge, seeking friends to cook or buy one bucketful of rice
and feed the poor in the locality. One can also donate medicines worth Rs. 100
to the nearest government hospital. SHARE it Help me make it Viral or should I
say popular.
Think Rational Think well. #Peace
Well said. While ALS challenge came up to raise charity for those in suffering, it tends to create another by wasting water at a time when thousands are dying due to scarcity of water.
ReplyDeleteAs it is said everything has a flip side. And each should be taken into account. :)
