Indian by Religion

In 1947, when India got freedom from British rule, the nation was established as a secular one. Constitution of India guarantees all its citizens the “Right to Freedom of Religion” as a fundamental right under Article 25. This means, that all citizens have the right to practice and promote their religion peacefully. Muslim, Sikh, Hindu, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, or a person from any other religion should practice his or her religion as long as he or she is not disturbing or harming the public in any way.

Open today’s newspaper, or yesterday’s, or day before yesterday’s  &  you will find a report on communal violence. Attacks on religious establishments, forceful conversions, massacres, riots, you name it and it has taken place in this country. The only question that comes to our mind is whatever happened to tolerance? Why can’t we accept the existence of religions other than ours? Why do we feel the need to establish superiority of our religion over others?

On his return from India, President Obama said, "Michelle and I returned from India — an incredible, beautiful country, full of magnificent diversity — but a place where, in past years, religious faiths of all types have, on occasion, been targeted by other peoples of faith, simply due to their heritage and their beliefs — acts of intolerance that would have shocked Gandhiji, the person who helped to liberate that nation." Perhaps, if Gandhiji had seen the state of our country today and the kind of violence that occurs almost every day in the name of religion, he would have been scandalized.

No religion propagates the idea of harming others, no religion asks its followers to do things that would spoil the peace and harmony of the society. All religions promote a way of living which helps in maintaining peace and leading a balanced and satisfied life. All other aspects of religion that are being communicated today which lead to violence are not God’s words, these are wrong interpretations being made by people who want to see their religion on the top, like it’s a competition.

As the youth of the nation, as the people who are going to shape the nation in the coming years, it is our responsibility to overcome these false interpretations. Read your scriptures, read about your religion and understand that any violence in the name of religion is not being ordered by God. It is being ordered by people who can’t see a society living in peace and happiness. It is our duty, to shape a better future for ourselves and for those who will come after us. It is our duty to ensure that these acts of intolerance stop and each individual living in this country is free to practice the religion of his choice. It is our duty to promote brotherhood. Because before being Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains or Buddhists, we are Indians and it is our responsibility to look out for each other, not harm each other.
"The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticise others" - Dalai Lama

The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender community.
Source: https://libraryeuroparl.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/lgbt-ks.jpg

It has been an ancient taboo, a female being attracted romantically, physically or emotionally to another female, a male fancying another male, or transcending of gender. The society regards this as unnatural and unacceptable. Section 377 of the Indian penal code says that sex with the persons belonging to the same gender is punishable by law and it criminalizes any other form of intimacy other than peno-vaginal sex, being ignorant to the interests of the LGBT community.

So, the law decides who we make love to? We define something as normal when it’s common, typical or expected in the majority. But, just because something is not found in the majority, we fail to understand that being a part of a minority or an uncommon group does not mean being abnormal. The LGBT community consists of human beings just like you and me. They choose to make their personal choices on their own, decide what to do, who to fall in love with or who to have a sexual relationship with, just like all others do. But that one thing that disturbs the ‘ideal society’ is their choice of liking someone from the same sex. Think about it this way – the law accepts any kind of a relationship between a male and a female. But if a female has a sexual relationship, or even a strong liking towards another female, it’s a crime?  Its unreasonable, illogical and there is nothing that proves this kind of a relationship wrong or harmful.

source: http://sodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/sir-john-cc-LGBT-History-month.jpg

The LGBT community and its interests have been a hot topic of discussion lately. The community is considered to be deteriorating the society and its cultural values whereas they seem and intend to promote the idea of a multi-cultural free society where you can decide what you want or precisely, who you want to be with, deleting the unnecessary intervention of the law in shaping minds on what is normal and socially acceptable.

Here’s what they want to say to you:
…………..
The LGBT community goes beyond the gender definitions and very much deserves to be openly accepted instead of being sidelined. Everyone should be given the freedom of their personal choices.

So take pride in what, why and who you love.

THE VIRAL DRESS - white and gold or blue and black?

Source- Tumblr

Here’s what actually happened:
"What happened was two of my close friends were actually getting married and the mother of the bride took a photo of the dress to send to her daughter. When my friend showed the dress to her fiancée, they disagreed on the color." Says Caitlin McNeill,  who first posted the picture on a Tumblr fan page.

The bride posted the photo of the dress on Facebook which started a huge debate amongst her friends. When McNeill posted the picture on Tumblr, that’s when it all started. The debate over the color of the dress went insanely viral. Some said it’s a blue bodycon with black lace while others said it’s white with gold lace. There have also been vague theories that have cropped up justifying why the other party is completely color blind!

The photo was tweeted by several celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift. There were fierce discussions on the scientific reasons of why it seemed to be a two-toned dress.

So if you can’t decide too on what color it is don’t freak out. Here's one reasoning to all those who think its white and gold..

..and heres one justifying the black and blue.

check out people’s reactions

this might help you decide..

Tell us what color you think it is.

WHY ITS NOT OKAY TO HUMILIATE THOSE WHO CRITICISED THE AIB ROAST

“I may not agree with what you say but ill defend to death your right to say it.”
                                                                                                                                        -Voltaire.
We all know the tumultuous story of the infamous AIB roast that came into public space and divided the country into two parties-the ones who liked it and the ones who didn't.
While I agree that there needs to be an absolute freedom of expression and that it was wrong to get the video pulled down, here’s why, by virtue of this same fact, it’s not okay to hate or publicly disgrace those who criticized the video.
Freedom of expression. For everyone. And anyone.
So while the supporters of AIB cry bloody murder over the banning of the video and the curbing of the right to expression, they in the same second swamp down like eagles on those who voiced an opinion against the video. Thus, effectively doing the same thing they were so sacredly fighting against.
Case in my point, the angry letter a fan wrote to Aamir Khan when he publicly declared that he was against the video. Aamir khan was called a hypocrite, a liar and a sham and people were told how consequently they should boycott his films.
So it’s okay to snatch someone’s career or threaten so simply because he has a conflicting opinion to yours? He is entitled to having an opinion, just as much as you are.
And this has historically been a problem in our country. Our identities, our values, our beliefs are not in absolution but in fact in opposition to other identities and values and beliefs.
I’m Hindu, not in absolution but also because I’m NOT Muslim or Christian or Jewish. And this is precisely why we have this need to go ahead and express hostility towards anyone who has a conflicting view and hence there arises a need to establish supremacy of one particular idea and this is precisely where most problems of the world begin.
Understand that a narrative and a counter narrative can exist peacefully in society and that’s how societies evolve. When it’s out in the world for every individual to decide for himself the virtues and vices of a particular idea and to subsequently accept it or reject it. When an opinion is not being forced down your throat and people are not running behind you with a sword in hand, if you do have a differing opinion.
The freedom of expression should be absolute. For all.

THE F-WORD:-FEMINISM AND MISREPRESENTATION.

Are feminists anti men?
God no.
It’s legitimately funny that a movement about women rights and women’s freedom gets so distorted that it still ends up being all about men.
So here’s a crash course. Feminism in a nutshell means wanting equal rights for men and women. It fights, amongst other things, for the right to equal wages for women, fights for women to be accorded common fundamental rights (not just on paper), fights for a women’s right to live, to exercise freedom, to exist. It fights for things that have long being denied to women because... they’re women.
Feminism is the radical notion that women are humans too, just as much as every other man that walked this earth.
However in the past decade or so, public perception to a large extent has demonized
feminism. The female feminist, anyway. Yes there’s gender bias here too.
So while a woman feminist is seen as a man eating, man hating, coloured hair, tattooed monster, the male feminist is seen as a highly sensitive, conscientious human being who stands and cares for women’s rights.
However a large part of this perception is caused by misrepresentation of feminism by feminists too.
And here’s where there is a problem with radical feminism.
So when feminists say that women do a particular job better than men? They’re wrong
Because the essence of feminism is not to establish supremacy of women over men. It is to establish that one, women can do any job as brilliantly as a man can and second, that accordance of merit or acknowledgement of talent should not be tied to one’s gender.
Girls can fight, boys can cry, women can go out and earn and men can stay home and not hold a job.
Feminism is not about switching patriarchy with matriarchy, it’s about establishing equality.
When feminists say it’s wrong for women to actively choose to stay home and look after her children. They’re wrong.
Feminism, above everything else, celebrates the right of a woman to chose for herself what she thinks is best. When you tell her that her choice to stay home is wrong you’re doing the exact same thing that patriarchs have done from the beginning of time while telling women that their place is in the kitchen. This is what’s essentially alienating a large population from the movement because of how non relatable it’s become.
Feminism is not about replacing one rigid system of beliefs with another one.
It’s to break social constructs that chain people to specific gender roles and reconstruct society in a way that your gender doesn’t pre-decide your life choices.
Now, while I've validated a lot of anti-feminists concerns, here’s some food for thought.
When people say that, everyone should have a feminist point of view. They’re right.
It’s not about them taking away your choice to join the movement. It simply means that if you don’t support feminism, you support marginalization of women based purely on the fact that they’re women.
And that’s extremely problematic. Because if you’re a man and you don’t support feminism, it’s simply because ignoring sexism is easy when it works in your favour.

And if you’re a woman and you think that because you have equal voting rights, you don’t need feminism, here’s what you should give a thought to. Feminism got you to this point in time when you do have these basic rights and are not frowned upon if you enter political space. And that the fight is not just about basic rights, it will in fact only end when the collective public conscience starts believing that women in fact are not the weaker sex.

HAVE A MESSAGE? SHOOT IT UP!

Remember this video? Girls being eve teased and by-standers simply watching and enjoying the show. This video crossed 1 million views on You-tube.

And what about this one? A man who gives 1000 rupee notes to the hard-working street vendors and gives them their due share of happiness. This video crossed 2 million views.

Except being two viral videos recently, these have another thing in common. The man in action, Varun Pruthi.  He is an actor by profession but his work through the videos is commendable. Not something any person would take pains to do. Objectifying women, rape cases, children whose wise replies leave you speechless, honesty, poverty, hunger, indifferent attitudes of people, etc.; there is hardly any issue that this man does not covers. Most of his videos are viral and he succeeds in sending across his social messages through videos. Kudos to him for the great work he is doing.

Who says online media is just a means of interacting with people and giving out news? This guy proves the notion wrong. He uses online platform to create sensitivity among people and inspire them to bring up the human in them, and dare I say he is not successful! He for sure is.

A major aspect such videos highlight is the vast potential of social media. Majority of the people use whatsapp and facebook as mediums to interact and share. You-tube is another most frequented site. Why not use these platforms to spread your message to the world? You have another plus point; people today are too busy to read large chunks of writing. Photos and videos consume lesser time. Visuals are more attractive, interactive and leave a long-lasting impression. You feel something about an issue, a crisis, a problem or a general attitude or almost anything and you want your voice to be heard; simple- take out your cameras, hone your videography and photography skills and speak up innovatively.

I TOLD MY KIDS I ATE ALL THEIR HALLOWEEN CANDY!

We have always seen kids playing pranks on their friends and family. Jimmy Kimmel turned around the table and now we have parents playing a prank on their children and recording their reactions.

Jimmy Kimmel, asked parents to play a prank on their children as a part of Halloween. They had to tell their children the next day of Halloween that they ate all their Halloween candy and then record the reactions. The reactions were not at all disappointing!

This new Halloween tradition kicked off in 2011 and then followed up in 2012 , 2013 and then 2014.  All the videos crossed 5 million views on you-tube and are still a rage.

The kids reactions would make you pity them but at the same time make you laugh at their cute yet angry reactions. Why not! Halloween candies are extremely precious after all, and as Jimmy says,"for them its the first time they ever earned anything". Though we have some cute ones full of forgiveness from these young saints but its their shock and anger with a dash of innocence that blows you off!

WATCH OUT, HERE COMES INDIA!!!

World Cup 2015 #wewon’tgiveitback

India Vs Pakistan; apologies to the guy from Karachi (a world cup ad) that your crackers will never burst.

India Vs South Africa; we grabbed your “mauka” and it’s time for us to burst the crackers.

Nothing, but work, can ever be dull when it comes to a match where India is on the field and if it is the World Cup, work places better be shut.
Top it up with some Pakistani masala and the excitement will break all boundaries.  For more spice, add up a team that India struggles to defeat or has never defeated in a World Cup (like South Africa).

For once remote-fights stop and the families irrespective of gender or age unite to see their India play. The cheers are not only limited to the stadium, it is also joined in from cheers from homes and all the corners of the country. Not to forget the minute-to-minute emotional updates on facebook and twitter.

“Wicket gir gaya”, “sixer”, “aaj to hum hi jeetege”, are some of the phrases I grew up with and I feel everyone would relate. It was the excitement that drew me to watch the matches and I admit it is a drug. The patriotism, the aura of our country playing and winning on the field is something thrilling, seems more exciting than anything. India in action on field and winning is a greater celebration than any birthday or anniversary or any celebration ever.

More matches await and so do more victories and more celebrations. And the recent scenario of fun advertisements adds on to the excitement of us Indians, eager to turn every challenge into a victory.
Proud to be an Indian and ready to chuck all work for an India match!
Long way to go India!!!

Modi's preferred prime ministerial outfit - the sharply tailored vest , which to the untrained eye looks like a paired down version of the Nehru jacket & his collection of collarless vests comes in a sweeping pallete:canary yellow, sky blues & saffaron - a colour typically associated with BJP - often paired with pieces in more subtle earthy tones.

What is the full form of : ALS ?

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
You knew it very good  !! You don’t never mind even I didn't knew it.

ALS Ice bucket challenge got the hold of all of us. Everybody was seen dumping cold icy bucket on their head from David Beckham to Delhi university students. It was introduced as a campaigned fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
(As mentioned on ALS official Website)
The person who is tagged by someone either dumps a bucket of ice water over their heads within 24 hours or donates $100 to the ALS foundation. Just like any other sensational scoop it spread in India like Wild fire.
BUT LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION WAS IT WORTH IT?
It may have ratcheted up the YouTube hits, but have they really done much for awareness of the disease?
We live in country where people still struggle for drinking water. They travel miles just to get enough water for their daily requirements. On one hand we are making our project/ presentation on SAVE WATER and on the new tab challenging our Friends, Cousins, family for ICE Bucket challenge. Just for the sake of participation on social media affair, Is this justified?

These viral fevers somehow block our way of rational thinking.
The above video…which should have been VIRAL in India will take u on the amazing tour of reality. There was a change in notion when “WE: INDIANS” started our very own version #RiceBucketChallenge. Initiated by Manju Latha Kalanidhi (HYDERABAD) who posted the challenge, seeking friends to cook or buy one bucketful of rice and feed the poor in the locality. One can also donate medicines worth Rs. 100 to the nearest government hospital. SHARE it Help me make it Viral or should I say popular.

Think Rational Think well. #Peace

WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY ? "Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!"

Remember the time when the above song struck our ears in 2013. Ylvis the Norwegian comedy duo blow our mind with their oh so cool dance moves, blends of rhythmic music and creepy animal voices. Imagine the song was produce to promote their brand new up coming season of tonight with Ylvis “I kveld med Yelvis”.
Source : http://itisalittlecool.tumblr.com/post/64793259522

Group of funny people just sitting around, goofing and suddenly a question pop's out “what kind of sound does the fox make? This question gave rise to 450+ million viewed video on YouTube. It’s hard to figure out what makes a video go viral and at the same time makes its spot on #6 on billboard’s top 100 for 3 consecutive weeks. For some lucky ones like DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn down for what” finds entry in Grammy nomination. These videos not just start something new but at create a platform for parodies, remakes and covers which sometimes can be better than the original. If you search for “Harlem Shake” 50,000 different results will pop up and tracing the original would be a tough job. Even some false notion or critical remark attach to a video gives a video a head start.
Rebecca Black’s “Friday” if you haven’t heard of it got 160 million views and 3.1 million Dislikes as it was called the worst video ever on our very own Twitter. There is very thin line between what is popular and what Viral is.  Popular is something which is seen and liked by majority on the other hand viral is something which is most viewed most shared and can’t be sure about most liked plus it’s on top for just a period of time.
While talking Viral how can we forget our Korean guy PSY. Gangnam style hit a jaw dropping mark of over 2 billion views on Youtube with just one understandable line “ohhh sexy lady….oppa gangnam style”.
Our very own “Why this Kolaveri Di” spread worldwide proving Viral doesn't hold language barrier.  You don’t have to perfect to be a Viral Infectant. Just take up something goofy. Put your creative hat on. Find the most relatable or the least relatable things. Add the never before element to mix with out of the box thinking. And get as crazy as you can. Hope to see more !! BTW still wondering what does the Fox say ?

Talk about it, it's only sex.

Sex - it continues to be a taboo, something we can make jokes out of, something we can use to abuse each other. But when it comes to talking about it, we don't say a word.

In 2014, Durex took Ranveer Singh as their brand ambassador. Together they came up with an advertisement which was appreciated and enjoyed by the audiences. A few weeks later Durex and MTV joined hands and came up with Rex Talks, a platform which encouraged the youth of the country to talk about sex.

Watch Ranveer Singh talk about it:

Source: Durex India

It is time we acknowledge the fact that sex is normal. Everyone, everywhere, at some point, does it. Not talking about, treating it like it's a taboo, only leads us to form misconceptions about it. Talk to your friends, your parents, your siblings, don't live in the dark. It's only sex.

US President Barack Obama’s video for healthcare topped the charts and made him the web’s new popular star. This video was viewed more than 18 MILLION TIMES on the first day it went online on Buzzfeed , which is an innovative social media platform.

This funny and contagious video was taken to connect to the youth through the internet. The purpose of the video was to encourage Americans to enroll themselves in the affordable healthcare plans. Future predictions

Indian cinema has gone through lots of upheavals and changes and is not reluctant to adopt technological advancements.

The advancement in technology has improvised the established cinematic norms of delivering product which doctored the manner in which content used to reach the target audience earlier. Super hero and science fiction films like Krish , Enthiran, Eega and Ra.One are all visual effects based and emerged as the examples of technological advancements.
The last and the ongoing phase started in late 2000s. This phase introduced a lot of technical advancements in the ways movies are made. From Koi Mil Gaya(2003) till Ra.One(2011), movies put a greater emphasis on the visual effects rather than the story. A lot of movies have been shot abroad, with only the mention of India.
the changing patterns in movies are basically a result of the changing mindsets of the audience as well the bid to attract international audience who have different perspective than the ones for whom movies were made in the 1950s.
“Love Story 2050 is the realization of a dream to give Indian audiences a sci-fi love story that they have never experienced before. It is a film that will appeal to all with its extraordinary special effects. With a large part of the film driven by special effects, the role of technology was paramount in this film and Sun’s IT infrastructure support to some of the special effects created by the Hollywood studios has been invaluable in the making of India’s first sci-fi flick.”
The film makes extensive use of technology and special effects in creating a time machine, which transports the characters to Mumbai in the year 2050 with flying cars, 200 storied buildings, robots and sky rails. The film also has a robot and a computer generated teddy bear.

Past in the Present

With the advent of technology and post modernization Bollywood industry’s past can be traced in its present. Bollywood industry may have transformed over the years but still a sense of past still prevails in the present. Some of the legends started their careers long back and are still actors.  Talking about some of greatest actors like Mr Amitabh Bacchan, Mr Dharmendra, Mr Rishi Kapoor, Mr Randheer Kapoor, Ms Hema Malini, Ms Waheeda Rehman, Ms Neetu Singh etc continue to act and entertain the audiences till today. Also many of the old Bollywood movies have had their remakes in the recent time for example Agneepath (2012) produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Karan Malhotra is the remake of the 1990 film of the same name. Don is the remake of the 1978 film of the same name. Bol Bacchan is the remake of the famous Gol Mal released in the year 1979. There such films also include Himmatwala Chashme Baddoor, Umrao Jaan, Karzz etc.

21st CENTURY BOLLYWOOD
